A Sentimental Mama Moment

My friends Sacha and Alayna have a brand new baby boy. They email me periodically with pictures and it gets me all sentimental. I found myself writing the following to them. I also found myself splicing together some videos of Logan from age one to age 5. And now I see that I seem to be posting all this.

We are having fun and Logan is growing not quite so fast anymore but the time is moving more quickly so you couldn’t really tell. Baby time is the slowest and the fastest time ever. It’s slow when you are handling a diaper blow-out and poop is everywhere and you don’t have a change of clothes and it is freezing out. And time goes fast when you realize he is never ever going to be that completely helpless writhing worm ever again. For a long time I kept thinking Logan was going to turn into a little baby again but he just hasn’t gone backwards. He just keeps growing and changing. He argues with me. We get mad at each other. We laugh at some of the same jokes. And when times get challenging, I just imagine I am 67 and he’s 36 and doesn’t want me all the time and absolutely refuses to cling or sit on my lap. Heck, he doesn’t even call me very often and I have to hold myself back from calling him 10 times a day. Won’t I long for just one more blown out diaper then? One inconsolable hour of crying?
